Prof. Dr. Jack Nasher-Awakemian, M.Sc. (Oxford)
Jack Nasher studied and taught at Oxford University and was a professor at the University of Oxford from 2010 to 2023. Munich Business School and guest lecturer of the Stanford University. Reading people and convincing them — that is his expertise. He advises companies on negotiation issues worldwide and heads the NASHER Negotiation Institute. Nasher is considered a “leading negotiation expert” (Focus) and “the Pope of Lies” (Süddeutsche Zeitung). His books have been published in the USA, Russia and China, among other places. He has been a guest on over 100 radio and TV programs.
Career
Schooling in Germany, France and the USA was followed by law studies, which he completed with honors in Frankfurt/Main. At the same time, he completed his studies in philosophy and psychology. At Oxford University, he was Research Associate of Holywell Manor at Balliol College and completed a Masters in Management Research at the Saïd Business School of Oxford University. At the age of 26, he received his PhD on Sir Karl Popper from the University of Vienna. Research stays at the European Parliament and the European Court of Justice were followed by training positions at the M&A law firm Skadden Arps and as Assistant Attaché for the Foreign Office at the UN in New York.
From 2005–2009, Jack Nasher taught as a tutor at Oxford University and conducted the applicant interviews for the subject Economics & Management. In 2010, he was appointed Professor of Leadership and Organization at Munich Business School and gave numerous doctoral seminars at the Technical University of Munich.
Practice
Himself a founder and investor in corporations, film, real estate and private equity / VCs, Jack Nasher began training companies in communications in 2004, focusing on negotiation as the intersection of business, psychology and law. Since then, Jack Nasher has worked steadily with companies in a wide variety of industries, providing them with the latest research insights and the best practices of the negotiating world.
Works
Jack Nasher’s books were on the Spiegel bestseller list for months and have been published in the USA, Russia, India and China, among other places. Articles about him have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, China Times, FAZ and ZEIT, among others. He donated 100 % of his author’s fee of his book “The State Theory of Karl Popper” to Human Rights Watch Germany.
Jack Nasher regularly presents his research findings at scientific conferences and was awarded the gold medal (“best paper”) at the International Conference on Applied Psychology 2016 in Colombo/Sri Lanka.

Jack Nasher is a member of the Society of Personality & Social Psychology and Principal Practitioner of the Association of Business Psychologists. Jack Nasher advocates for professional policy and prevailed in court to allow business psychology graduates to qualify as “Business Psychologists” may call.
In his spare time Jack Nasher is mainly engaged in psychological illusions and has had over 80 performances at the Magic Castle in Hollywood / California.
